Appendix 2E – Restart cleaning procedures

Classroom / Dry Lab / Auditorium / Studio

  • Empty general and recyclable trash. Replace liners when soiled or torn. Clean and disinfect the interior and exterior trash and recycling containers.
  • Clean dry erase board with approved cleaner, resulting in a soil and streak free surface.
  • Clean erasers using approved equipment. Erasers placed back in service will be free of chalk dust.
  • Erase chalkboard and wash, resulting in a surface free of dust, soil, streaks, fingerprints, and buildup.
  • Vacuum carpets to remove obvious soil, dust, and debris.
  • Empty pencil sharpeners and disinfect.
  • Damp mop floors to remove dust, soil, and debris. Then disinfect floors.
  • Vacuum under furniture, along edges and in corners using a canister or backpack vacuum to remove dust and debris.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.  Damp clean horizontal surfaces followed by disinfecting same surfaces.
  • Dust or vacuum air vents to remove loose dust, soil, and cobwebs as required.
  • Wash and disinfect non-fabric furniture to include tables, desk chairs, and flip-up tablets to remove soil buildup and fingerprints.
  • Disinfect telephones, light switches, door handles, and door push bars.

Wet Labs

  • Empty general and recyclable trash as required following lab protocol. Replace liners. Remove trash to designated area.
  • Clean and disinfect interior/exterior of trash cans.
  • Dust mop floors to remove dust and debris.
  • Damp mop floors.
  • Dust or vacuum air vents to remove loose dust, soil and cobwebs as required.
  • Disinfect telephones, light switches, door handles, and door push bars.

Conference/Administrative

  • Empty general and recyclable trash. Replace liners when soiled or torn. Clean and disinfect trash and recycling containers.
  • Clean dry erase board with approved cleaner, resulting in a soil and streak free surface.
  • Vacuum carpets to remove obvious soil, dust, and debris.
  • Vacuum under furniture, along edges, and in corners using a canister or backpack vacuum to remove dust and debris.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.  Damp clean horizontal surfaces followed by disinfecting same surfaces.
  • Damp mop floors to remove dust, soil, and debris. Then disinfect floors.
  • Wash and disinfect non-fabric furniture to include tables, desk chairs, and flip-up tablets to remove soil buildup and fingerprints
  • Disinfect telephones, light switches, door handles, and door push bars.
  • Dust or vacuum air vents to remove loose dust, soil, and cobwebs as required.

Corridors/Circulation/Entranceways

  • Clean, disinfect, and polish drinking fountains, including vent. Add signage if needed.
  • Empty general and recyclable trash. Replace liners when soiled or torn. Clean and disinfect trash and recycling containers.
  • Vacuum entry-level corridor carpets daily to remove dust and debris.
  • Auto scrub or damp mop hard floor surfaces leaving floor surfaces free of dust and soil.
  • Disinfect all door handles and push bars, clean all glass surfaces.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Dust corridor furniture and disinfect all horizontal and vertical surfaces including interior and door glass.
  • Disinfect all hallway door handles, push bars, and light switches.

Stairwells

  • Vacuum stairways, dust vertical and horizontal surfaces and clean and disinfect to include handrails, stringers, and risers.
  • Sweep and damp mop stairways, dust vertical and horizontal surfaces.

Elevators

  • Clean elevator walls, doors, hard floors, ceiling and stainless steel.
  • Disinfect all handrails and floor call buttons.
  • Vacuum elevator track to remove dust and debris.

Lounge/Kitchenette

  • Dust and damp wipe with disinfectant horizontal and vertical break room surfaces including microwave and refrigerator doors.
  • Empty lounge room/kitchenette trash, replace liners and tie off at corners, disinfect exterior and interior of trash containers.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Damp mop floors to remove dust, soil, and debris.
  • Damp wipe air vents with disinfectant to remove dust, soil, cobwebs, and buildup.

Public Offices/Copy/Mail

  • Empty general and recyclable trash. Replace liners when soiled or torn. Remove trash. Clean and disinfect interior and exterior of trash containers.
  • Dust furniture and disinfect all horizontal surfaces (which are free of personal or work- related items) and all vertical surfaces.
  • Dust mop floors to remove dust and debris.
  • Damp mop hard floors.
  • Clean and disinfect telephones and sanitize receivers.
  • Fully vacuum all carpeted areas from wall to wall.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Dust or vacuum air vents to remove loose dust, soil and cobwebs as required.
  • *** Personal property and work-related items will not be moved or cleaned. *** 

Private Offices

  • Empty general and recyclable trash replace liners when soiled or torn. Remove trash.
  • Clean and disinfect interior and exterior of trash containers.
  • Dust furniture and disinfect all horizontal surfaces (which are free of personal or work- related items) and all vertical surfaces.
  • Dust mop floors to remove dust and debris.
  • Damp mop hard floors.
  • Clean and disinfect telephones and sanitize receivers.
  • Fully vacuum all carpeted areas from wall to wall.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Dust or vacuum air vents to remove loose dust, soil and cobwebs as required.
  • *** Personal property and work-related items will not be moved or cleaned. ***

Restrooms/Showers/Lockers

  • Police restrooms: remove debris; spot clean fixtures, mirrors and floors; replenish supplies.
  • Clean and disinfect shower walls, fixtures, and other surfaces to provide a sanitized surface.
  • Apply germicidal cleaner to all fixtures. Refill dispensers, empty trash/replace liners.
  • Spot clean mirrors/walls/partitions, wipe fixtures clean, sweep and mop floors with germicidal cleaner.
  • Fully vacuum all carpeted areas from wall to wall to remove dust and debris.
  • Clean floor drain surfaces. Remove debris and pour water to flush and fill drain, providing a seal from gasses.
  • Dust locker exteriors to remove loose dust and cobwebs.
  • With a germicidal cleaner, completely damp wipe restroom partitions including high/low areas.
  • Machine scrub restroom floors with germicidal cleaner to sanitize and to remove soil and buildup as needed.
  • Wash restroom walls with germicidal cleaner resulting in a surface free of soil, dust, and streaks.
  • Disinfect interior and exterior of trash containers.
  • Dust or vacuum air vents to remove loose dust, soil and cobwebs as required.

Gyms/Courts/Decks

  • Dust mop open areas with a dust mop to remove dust and debris.
  • Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, providing a sanitized unit free of streaks, buildup, and daily soil.
  • Auto scrub gym floor, leaving floor surfaces free of buildup, dust, and debris.
  • Empty general trash, replace liners, and disinfect interior/exterior of trash containers.
  • Using an approved disinfectant, damp mop pool deck floors to provide a sanitary surface.
  • Dust areas above shoulder level and below knee level to remove dust and cobwebs.
  • Dust furniture and spot clean and disinfect all horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Spot clean opened bleachers in gymnasium to remove obvious debris, dust, and soil.
