Occupational Safety

Our occupational safety professionals promote health and safety procedures at the University.

Chemical Hygiene Plan

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation 29 CFR 1910.1450, "Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories” mandates the development of a Chemical Hygiene Plan which is capable of protecting employees from health hazards associated with hazardous chemicals in the laboratory and capable of keeping exposures below OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits.

Chemical Safety

The Laboratory Safety Group supports the University's Chemical Safety program in support of the OSHA Laboratory Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1450.   Chemical Safety includes maintaining the University Chemical Hygiene Plan; Laboratory Safety Manual; comprehensive consultation in laboratory safety; facility design; training for safe laboratory practices and compliance with laboratory safety regulations.
