Radiation Safety
Cornell’s radiation safety program, directed by the Radiation Safety Committee and managed by the EHS Radiation Safety Group, supports research and clinical work with ionizing and non-ionizing radiation to protect workers and the public. Subject matter experts support the safe use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment like x-ray generators, accelerators, irradiators, lasers, and magnets. We strive to be a resource and partner to enable safe, productive work in compliance regulatory requirements to maintain the privilege of working with these sources of radiation.
All uses of ionizing radiation require a Cornell Permit specifying approved personnel, inventory, scope of work, and training requirements.
