Department Safety Representatives
The Environment, Health and Safety Policy 8.6 identifies the roles and responsibilities for units to have Department Safety Representatives. The Department Safety Representative (DSR) serves a very important role with implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs on campus. The role of the DSR is to assist the director, unit head, and/or department chairperson meet their responsibilities for safety and compliance. Useful resources are available in the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) webpage to carry out your role as a DSR.
Colleges or units may choose one individual per department to serve as the DSR or one individual may be given responsibility for multiple departments, units, or facilities. If you do not see a DSR listed for your college, department, unit, or facility, please contact your department chairperson, director, or unit head and direct them to this webpage.
DSR-L list serve
DSRs are automatically subscribed to the DSR-L list serve once appointed by your department. You will receive email notifications about topics such as monthly EHS training announcements, upcoming DSR Roundtables and other workshops, EHS announcements, free equipment notifications, and other topics. The DSR-L can also be used as an information exchange among DSRs by emailing DSR-L@cornell.edu. You do not have to be a DSR to subscribe. If you would like to be subscribed (or unsubscribed) to DSR-L or the DSR has changed, simply send an email request to askEHS@cornell.edu.
