The Hearing Conservation Program is to provide guidance for protecting Cornell University employees from long-term hearing loss associated with noise levels in the workplace.

Hot Work Program Protected Document

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Fire Code of New York State(FCNYS) require facilities to develop procedures to protect both human health and the facility itself from the hazards posed by hot work in the workplace. This program is intended to provide the Cornell University community with the guidance necessary to comply with these regulations.

Labels for Chemical Containers Protected Document

All chemical/product containers must be properly labeled in order to communicate important health and safety information to the users. This is also known as the “Right to Know” standard.

The laser safety community has recently developed concerns about the availability of affordable handheld laser pointers so dangerously high-powered that even instantaneous exposure to the direct beam could result in permanent, catastrophic eye injury. These products are available through third-party sellers on seemingly reputable marketplaces such as Amazon.com and are being marketed with innocuous descriptions like camping supplies, pet toys, and tactical flashlights.
