The purpose of these procedures is to ensure that Cornell University employees maintain and operate Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) in a safe manner and do so in accordance with all OSHA Standards and other regulatory compliance codes. This program requires that only trained and authorized operators s hall be permitted to operate an AWP.

The Cornell University Confined Space Program establishes requirements and procedures to protect employees and contractors engaged in alteration, construction, maintenance, repair and inspection activities at locations with one or more confined spaces. This program also establishes requirements and procedures for confined space entry operations.

The purpose of the Crane and Hoist Safety Program is to establish safe work practices and inspection procedures to help ensure that the operators of overhead cranes, as well as the Cornell University community are protected from potential hazards associated with the movement of equipment and material using a crane, hoist and related equipment.

This Electrical Safe Work Practices program has been developed to help individuals recognize and avoid electrical hazards. The goal is to reduce and manage the risk of electrical arc flash hazard, shock, equipment damage, and fire.

The purpose of this program is to ensure that Cornell University employees have a means to properly analyze elevated work tasks where fall hazards are present and determine appropriate personal protection against falls in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Construction and General Industry regulations.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Fire Code of New York State(FCNYS) require facilities to develop procedures to protect both human health and the facility itself from the hazards posed by hot work in the workplace. This program is intended to provide the Cornell University community with the guidance necessary to comply with these regulations.

The purpose of the Powered Industrial Trucks Program is to protect Cornell University employees from the hazards associated with the operation of Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs) and to ensure that employees maintain and operate Powered Industrial Trucks in a safe manner.
